The "LG-IEMS" is a Clinical COMBINATION Electronic Muscle Stimulator and Interferential Unit in one, designed to treat pain and muscle for optimum rehabilitation and recovery. This Clinical Unit has 4 channels and 2 independent timers. This unit can treat 2 patients independently or at the same. The LG-IEMS Professional Electronic Muscle Stimulator / Interferential Combination Unit is simple and easily to operate in both the office or home.

How do Electronic Muscle Stimulators work?

Electronic Muscle Stimulation is achieved by sending small electrical impulses through the skin to the underlying motor units (nerves and muscles) to create an involuntary muscle contraction. The electrical impulses are "ramped" so that they closely emulate natural muscle contractions.

Because the stimulation of nerves and muscles may be accomplished by electrical pulses this treatment modality can help prevent disuse atrophy. Accordingly, incapacitated patients can receive therapeutic treatment to create involuntary muscle contractions thereby improving and maintaining muscle tone without actual physical activity.

Muscle Stimulators are used to treat a number of medical conditions. The most common are long-term disuse after fracture or prolonged bed rest, progressive strengthening for joint and muscle injury, immoblized limbs, atrophy prevention, stress incontinence, muscle weakness, improving muscle tone, after weight loss or childbirth, muscle spasticity following a stroke.

Muscle Stimulators are also widely used for muscle toning, rehabilitation, training, and cosmetic purposes as well.

How do Interferential Units Work?

Interferential current (IFC)- Interferential current is essentially a deeper form of TENS. In essence, Interferential modulates a high frequency (4000 Hz) carrier waveform with the same signal produced by a TENS unit. The high frequency carrier waveform penetrates the skin more deeply than a regular TENS unit, with less user discomfort for a given level of stimulation. Deep in the tissues, the carrier waveform is cancelled out, resulting in a TENS-like signal deep under the skin.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that the Interferential "Current" Units may be useful for patients who have not had relief from TENS. However, IFC devices tend to be more expensive than TENS units.

The LG-IEMS Clinical Muscle Stimulator / Interferential Unit comes with everything needed for immediate use including lead wires and electrode pads.
